Apple launches new MacBook Air models with M3 chip, enhancing performance and connectivity
Apple has introduced the latest iterations of its MacBook Air laptops, equipped with the powerful M3 chip, marking a significant leap in the device's capabilities. The new 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air models boast up to 60% faster performance compared to their M1 counterparts and up to 13 times faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air. This enhancement is a part of Apple's continuous effort to push the boundaries of power-efficient performance and portability.
The M3 chip, built on the cutting-edge 3-nanometer technology, features an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU, supporting up to 24GB of unified memory. This upgrade ensures that the MacBook Air remains the best consumer laptop for AI, with its faster and more efficient Neural Engine. Users can expect up to 18 hours of battery life, ensuring productivity is not hampered by the need for frequent charging.
"With the M3 chip and new capabilities, the MacBook Air continues to be the world’s best thin and light laptop," said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
The MacBook Air models feature a Liquid Retina display, offering vivid colors and sharp details, and support for up to two external displays. These enhancements, coupled with up to 2x faster Wi-Fi than the previous generation, make the MacBook Air an even more versatile and powerful tool for both personal and professional use. The laptops are available in four colors: midnight, starlight, space gray, and silver, each housed in a durable aluminum unibody enclosure.
Apple's focus on AI extends to macOS, which leverages the M3 chip's AI performance to enhance productivity and creativity. macOS delivers intelligent features such as real-time speech to text, translation, and visual understanding. The MacBook Air models also come with a broad ecosystem of apps delivering advanced AI features, enabling users to run optimized AI models and cloud-based solutions for a wide range of applications.
As the world’s most popular laptop, the MacBook Air with M3 raises the bar for performance and capabilities. It is designed to meet the needs of various users, from students and business professionals to creatives and casual users seeking a powerful yet portable computing solution.
Available for order starting Monday, March 4, with availability beginning Friday, March 8, the 13-inch MacBook Air with M3 starts at $1,099, and the 15-inch model starts at $1,299.
In line with Apple's environmental commitments, the new MacBook Air is the first Apple product made with 50 percent recycled content, including aluminum, rare earth elements, and copper. Apple aims to be carbon neutral across its manufacturing supply chain and the lifecycle of every product by 2030, further demonstrating its dedication to sustainability.
