Monster Hunter Wilds will finally allow changing weapon appearance and promises to improve PC performance

Capcom has revealed that Monster Hunter Wilds will receive a weapon transmog system in an upcoming update, while also working to fix PC performance problems. The announcement comes as part of a blog post by Game Director Yuya Tokuda celebrating the game's milestone of 10 million copies sold since its release just over a month ago.
The post outlines several updates planned for the near future, including the soon-to-be-released Title Update 1, which will introduce the Mizutsune monster, a new gathering area, and arena challenges.

The upcom
ing updates will feature:
8* tempered monsters, coming at end the of May
Adjustments to Hammer and other weapons
Corrupted Mantle is being nerfed, while other mantles are being buffed
UI/UX improvements
Improvement to game stability on Steam
Game balance adjustments
Layered weapons
Players have responded particularly well to news of the Layered Weapons feature, which will allow them to customize their weapon appearance without affecting stats. This addresses a common complaint about the necessity of using the powerful but visually bland Artian weapon series, known for their chunky green metallic design.
While previous Monster Hunter titles World and Rise only introduced weapon transmog with their expansion DLCs, Tokuda's wording suggests this feature might arrive earlier for Wilds, potentially in the base game rather than requiring a paid expansion.
On the technical side, Tokuda acknowledged the PC performance issues that have contributed to the game's mixed Steam reviews. He described optimization as "an ongoing process" and announced that Title Update 1 will include "reduced VRAM usage and updated DirectStorage in the Steam version," which should particularly benefit players with 8GB graphics cards.
For longtime fans, this approach mirrors Monster Hunter World's post-launch support, which started with similar PC performance challenges but improved significantly over time through regular updates. Capcom appears to be following a similar strategy with Wilds.
