New playable character Ironeye revealed for Elden Ring Nightreign
FromSoftware has revealed another playable character in the upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign expansion. The new class, called Ironeye, specializes in ranged combat using a bow. As part of the pre-order promotional campaign, developers released a trailer showcasing this character's unique combat abilities.
Based on the video, Ironeye represents a sniper or ranger class with the ability to shoot a bow while jumping using the new parkour system. Particularly impressive is the character's special ability to charge shots that pierce multiple enemies simultaneously, followed by an energy wave. The character can also aim freely and perform backstab equivalents by shooting arrows from close range behind enemies.
Elden Ring Nightreign will feature a total of eight Nightfarer classes, representing various gameplay styles. In the recent network test, players had access to only four of them: the versatile Wylder, tank-like Guardian, mage Recluse, and rogue Duchess. Ironeye nicely complements this team with ranged combat capabilities, though character builds can change significantly depending on random weapons found during each playthrough.
The network testing of Elden Ring Nightreign took place last month, giving players the opportunity to try the three-player cooperative mode and the roguelike three-day cycle system. Last week, publisher Bandai Namco shared statistics showing that many players experienced difficulties fighting the boss Nightlord: Gladius, Beast of Night — it was defeated only 58,615 times throughout the testing period.
It remains unknown who the three remaining Nightfarers will be, but the community speculates that one of them might be a character specializing in Faith.
On the game's official X account, the new post is accompanied by the caption:
Swift and unwavering, may your arrows bring death. Let your aim be true and cut through the darkness.
Journalists who tried the game before the network test noted that Nightreign impressively evolves the familiar Elden Ring gameplay, adding fresh mechanics and possibilities.
